VF525 - TS160 Bus Door Safety System Check Sheet

TEST 01 – GENERAL

  • Affixed “Parking Brake must be applied before leaving seat” sticker to the side window next to driver

  • Affixed “Do Not Access Bus Through Window” sticker as visible from outside of the Bus

  • Pressure setting on Primary and secondary regulators behind the front access panel (Route bus) or dash riser panel (School bus) is set to 0.7Mpa

  • Adjust Door Pressure Settings - Low pressure – 150kPa

  • Adjust Door Pressure Settings - Intermediate Pressure – Route Bus (Optimus) 380kPa

  • Adjust Door Pressure Settings - School Bus (Endura) 340kPa

  • Adjust Door Pressure Settings - High Pressure – 700kPa

TEST 02 – DOORS SYSTEM

  • Doors will only operate from driver’s door buttons if either the park brake or foot brake is applied.

  • Front door opens and closes from driver’s door control panel

  • Centre door opens and closes from driver’s door control panel (route and artic only)

  • Rear door opens and closes from driver’s door control panel (artic only)

  • Door air pressure switches to high pressure when door is fully open

  • Doors switch to high pressure when bus exceeds 5km/h

  • Doors switch back to medium pressure when doors are closed and bus is under 5km/h

  • Doors will not operate when vehicle exceeds 3km/h

TEST 03 – DOOR OVERRIDE SWITCH (Located on shelf plate)

  • When any door override switch is turned on, the door system will dump all air. Next press of the driver’s door button will open the door

  • Whenever the door override switch is on the air pressure will be on low

  • The door alarm warning buzzer will pulse every 3 seconds when door override switch is on

  • Red warning light in driver door control panel pulses every 3 seconds when override switch is on

  • No brake & throttle interlock operation when door override switch is on

  • Front door opens and closes from driver’s door buttons if override switch is on

  • With door override switch on, message displayed on C90 driver display : “Door override switch is on”

TEST 04 – DOOR SAFETY SYSTEM EBS FAULT DET

  • Door alarm lights and buzzer sound when chassis EBS fault occurs

  • Volvo chassis – Disconnect foot pedal potentiometer under drivers platform

  • Scania chassis – Remove chassis fuses 11 & 12 to introduce fault

TEST 05 – EMERGENCY OVERRIDE SWITCH

  • Door alarm lights will flash and buzzer will sound every second when the switch is held down

  • Brake & throttle interlock will be overridden when switch is held down

  • Note: Volvo chassis speed limiter set at 80km/h prior to PD

TEST 06 – EMERGENCY EXIT BUTTONS

  • All exterior emergency exit buttons open door independent of main switch position

  • All interior emergency exit buttons open door independent of main switch position

TEST 07 – DOOR SENSITIVE EDGE TEST USING TEST ROD

  • Safety system checked at three positions using test rod Equipment • JOX400010/JOX400011 - Multi-diameter test rod

  • RESULTS – FRONT DOOR - Door reopens with 35mm solid rod on the door step

  • RESULTS – FRONT DOOR -Door reopens with 20mm solid rod at 750mm above step

  • RESULTS – FRONT DOOR - Door reopens with 20mm solid rod at 1500mm above step

  • RESULTS – FRONT DOOR - Door reopens with 20mm solid rod on Random height

  • RESULTS – CENTRE DOOR (ROUTE AND ARTIC ONLY) - Door reopens with 35mm solid rod on the door step

  • RESULTS – CENTRE DOOR (ROUTE AND ARTIC ONLY) - Door reopens with 20mm solid rod at 750mm above step

TEST 08 – DOOR SENSITIVE EDGE

  • Front door re-opens if electric edge is activated when closing

  • Front door reopens if door leaf is obstructed when closing

  • Front door system dumps air if door leaf is obstructed when opening

  • When door system is dumped, next operation of driver’s front door button will reopen the door

  • When the edge has been activated, the system shall reset by further application of the driver’s front door control button

  • Door alarm buzzer sounds when front door is obstructed

  • Front door alarm warning light activates when front door is obstructed

  • Centre door re-opens if electric edge is activated when closing (Route and Artic only)

  • Centre door reopens if door leaf is obstructed when closing (Route and Artic only)

  • Centre door system dumps air if door leaf is obstructed when opening (Route and Artic only)

  • When door system is dumped, next operation of driver’s centre door button will reopen the door (Route and Artic only)

  • When the edge has been activated, the system shall reset by further application of the driver’s centre door control button (Route and Artic only)

  • Door alarm buzzer sounds when centre door is obstructed (Route and Artic only)

  • Centre door alarm warning light activates when centre door is obstructed (Route and Artic only)

  • When front door is closed from green workshop button on shelf plate, step light illuminates momentarily when door is obstructed.

  • When centre door is closed from green workshop button on shelf plate, step light illuminates momentarily when door is obstructed. (Route and Artic only)

  • Front door sensor test completed using dowel JOX400010/JOX400011

TEST 09 – PARK BRAKE ROLLAWAY WARNING SYSTEM

  • Note: Green external close button will also open the door

  • With master switch ON - Front door can only be closed externally if park brake is applied

  • With master switch ON - Centre door can only be closed externally if park brake is applied (Spec item only)

  • With master switch ON - With park brake released and drivers cab door open, audible park brake removed message: “Handbrake is not activated, please apply handbrake now”

  • With master switch ON - Door Alarm warning buzzer sounds

  • With master switch ON - Door Alarm warning light activates

  • With master switch OFF - Front door can only be closed externally if park brake is applied

  • With master switch OFF - Centre door can only be closed externally if park brake is applied (Spec item only)

  • With master switch OFF - Door Alarm warning buzzer sounds

  • With master switch OFF - Door Alarm warning light activates

TEST 10 – BRAKE INTERLOCK

  • Operates when center door is opened and vehicle travelling under 5kph (Route and Artic only)

  • Operates when centre door is opened and vehicle travelling under 5kph (Route and Artic only)

  • Operates when wheelchair ramp extended and vehicle travelling under 3kph

  • Operates when vehicle is travelling under 5kph and any sensitive edge is activated

  • No operation if any door is forced open over 5kph

  • No operation if door override switch is on

  • Operates warning light in Instrument cluster (with handbrake off)

  • Red interlock on symbol on the C90+ illuminates when brake interlock is active

TEST 11 – ACCELERATOR INTERLOCK

  • Operates when front door is opened and vehicle travelling under 5kph

  • Operates when centre door is opened and vehicle travelling under 5kph (Route and Artic only)

  • Operates when wheelchair ramp extended and vehicle travelling under 5kph

  • No operation if door override switch is on

  • Operates warning light in Instrument cluster (with handbrake off)

  • Operates warning light on C90 display
