  • INSTRUCTIONS:

    The Housekeeping Inspection checklist is an audit tool that is to be used by the site leadership team when conducting an inspection of the workplace.

    1. Housekeeping Inspection checklist shall be completed monthly by various departments.
    2. This inspection should be conducted by two personnel.
    3. Prior to conducting the inspection, review the previous month inspection to see what actions have been undertaken.
    4. On completion of inspection, actions or issues/ concerns, recommendations are to be entered into Mill Issues and completed inspection stored on the site document system. Completed inspections should be reviewed periodically by Department Heads.
    5. This Housekeeping Inspection checklist should be used as a guide and if an item is identified that is not on the checklist, it should be addressed in the notes section for future inclusion.
    6. A Housekeeping Inspection schedule identifies the inspection area each inspection team shall be inspecting month by month.

    Address each question as either yes (compliant) or no (non compliant). If non compliant, enter a comment into the comments section. Areas for improvement should also be noted in the comments section.

Preliminaries

  • This Housekeeping inspection is to be conducted by competent persons, familiar with the workings and risks/ hazards of an MCC ROOM

  • Ensure Inspection Team have: safety footwear, hi-vis clothing, safety glasses, two-way radio

Fire Safety & Emergency

  • Emergency exits are clearly marked

  • Emergency Exit signs are illuminated and directions are correct

  • Emergency exit doors open out and without use of key

  • Emergency Exits are free from obstructions

  • Fire extinguishers are available and tested within the last six months

  • Fire extinguishers are correctly sign posted

  • Fire hose valves are in working order

  • Fire Alarm is tested weekly

  • PA is tested weekly

  • Access to fire and emergency equipment is free from obstructions and easily accessible

  • Fire Blankets are available, still packaged and in good order

  • Electrical safety hooks are available and in good working order

  • Electrical insulated gloves are available and have been tested for leaks and are in good condition

Electrical Rooms General

  • Area is clean and tidy

  • Walkways are clear with no obstructions or trip hazards

  • No Slip, Trip, Fall hazards are present

  • Ladders and platforms are serviceable, task suitable and in good condition

  • Work bench space is clear and uncluttered

  • All equipment and tools are stored safely

Administration/ Office Areas

  • Workstations adequate for the tasks being performed

  • Workstations are set up to avoid awkward posture/ positioning

  • Chairs are sturdy and in good order

  • Workstation chairs are adjustable for the user

  • Chairs are stable during access and egress

  • Workstations clear and free of obstructions and hazards

  • Listing is suitable and sufficient - no screen glare

  • Electrical and other cords are secured and do not cause trip hazards

  • Use of power boards is minimised, not overloaded, no piggy-backing

General

  • Is there sufficient signage in the area (put yourself in a visitor/ contractor position)

  • Is waste/ rubbish/ used materials being disposed of correctly - are there controlled waste and general waste bins available?

  • Are there any leaks or spills causing land, water or other pollution
