  • Ensure that all flammable materials are not stored or placed within 25 feet of an ignition source.

  • Visually inspect for approved flammable and combustible liquid containers and tanks including emergency venting that will relieve excessive internal pressure. Containers are to be no more than 5 gallons and a spring-closing lid and spout.

  • Visually inspect for proper labeling of flammable and combustible liquid containers and tanks. This includes correct color of containers for each liquid, OSHA approved flammable symbol, and markings (GASOLINE, DIESEL GASOLINE MIXTURE)

  • Ensure good house keeping is observed when working with hazardous and flammable materials. Clean up up spills immediatley.

  • Visually inspect that bulk storage of gasoline or diesel is in above ground tanks. Ensure that the tank is in a berm to contain accidental spills. Visually inspect that bulk containers of flammable liquids are properly grounded and bonded while dispensing.

  • Visually inspect that flammable and combustible liquids in proper storage containers are stored in or in the area of a flammable storage cabinet, and that the cabinet is properly labeled “FLAMMABLE KEEP FIRE AWAY.” Ensure there is a fire extinguisher within 75 feet. Ensure flammable liquids are within the correct storage parameter amounts.

  • Visually inspect that flammable and combustible materials (Paint, Primer, PVC Glue, etc) are stored in the flammable storage cabinet.

  • No smoking or hot work being performed in the areas of flammable and combustible storage containers/cabinets. Visually inspect for posted NO SMOKING signs near flammable combustible storage containers/cabinets.

  • Assure proper PPE is worn when using hazardous materials and chemicals.

  • Secure all flammable waste (liquid or solid) in fire resistant, covered containers.
