Fire Watch is in the area and is the only responsibiltiy of the employee. Fire Watch is to remain in the area until 30 minutes after Hot Work is complete.

All combustibles are located 35 feet away from all hot work or in areas where relocation is impractical, combustibles are covered with flame proof covers and there is proper separation of oxygen and acetylene cylinders.

Where applicable, welding blinds are placed around welding/light producing applications.

A fire-resistent shield or guards is provided during cutting and welding applications.

Employees must where proper lens shade helmets with safety glasses underneath. All exposed skin areas must be covered with flame resistant clothing free of excessive holes or frays. Appropriate gloves must be worn. Face Shields are required when using a cutting torch and grinders.

Check to be sure that hoses, fittings, tips, regulators and gauges are in good working order.

Check the welding machine to ensure that electrical cords, electrode holders and cables are free from defects. There should not be any splices within 10 feet of the electrode holder. Ensure that the welding unit is properly grounded.

Fire Extiguishers are available for instant use. (Within 35 feet) Fire Extinguishers are the correct size for the application and has been inspected.

Hot Work Permit has been completed and posted. Inspect for adequate ventilation and lighting.

The area is free of trash/debris and the floor have been swept.
