Preparation for check-in

  • Was the flight pre-edited to accommodate pre-seating requirements.

  • Was pre-flight briefing conducted to covering special requirements / VIP / PRM / Deportees and the Bula Spirit?

  • Were the counters set-up prior to check-in for the flight and adequately resourced (manpower & stationery)

  • Do agents have access to current edition of Fiji Airways Manuals?(e.g. FJ GOM, FJ DGR)

Check-in

  • Did check-in for the flight commence on time?

  • Are the queue times managed effectively during check-in? - Economy Class: max 20 min - Business Class: max 10 min

  • Are check-in agent (s) carrying out check-in function in a systematic manner?

  • If check-in is done haphazardly then there is a greater likelihood of errors. If there is any indication of this, then interview the staff with the view to understand if he/she needs training. If more than one staff is inconsistent, then check trainers competency and training program.

  • Is passport to person and passport to ticket verification done by check-in agents

  • Are FJ baggage security questions being asked to guests?

  • Are staff asking guest to declare any DG items by means of showing DG posters before accepting bags (checked/cabin) for carriage.

  • Are old baggage destination tags removed and appropriate (destination, heavy, fragile, limited release) tags applied.

  • Are guest informed on LAGs, and importance of removing important documents, jewelry and medication from check-in baggage

  • Are agents weighing ALL the cabin bags to assess that is within the allowable weight (7kg) and dimensions?

  • Are all compliant HB tagged at the end of the check in process?

  • Do ground agents re-confirm details to customers at the end of their check-in transaction?

  • Did check-in for the flight close on time?
