Lab Equipment

  • Brix Meter (R1) Procedure:
    1. Wipe Sample stage and clean with a dry tissue.
    2. Press Start button and wait until “LLL” appears on Main display
    3. Add about 8 drops (0.3ml) of distilled water with use of disposable pipette onto the Sample stage
    4. Press ZERO button again
    5. Wait until “0” appears on the Main display
    6. Wipe off the distilled water.
    Tolerance: ±1% of calibration Brix

  • Is calibration completed?

  • pH Meter (P1/P2) Procedure:
    1. Turn on meter
    2. Rinse the pH probe and temperature probes with distilled water and dry with paper towel.
    3. Press "CAL"
    4. Dip both probes in fresh pH 7 buffer solution.
    Swirl gently and let reading stabilize.
    5. Once complete, press "accept" (or “hold/enter”).
    6. Repeat steps 4-5 with fresh pH 4 buffer.
    7. Once complete, press "accept" (or “hold/enter”) and then "escape".
    8. Dip the probes back in the pH 7 buffer to confirm machine is reading accurately*
    9. Repeat reading with pH 4 buffer*
    *Tolerance: ±0.2 of calibration pH

  • Is calibration completed?

  • Are pH buffer solution within its expiry date?

  • Water Activity Meter (W1) Procedure:
    1. Turn on the meter
    2. Turn on the SKALA on iPad
    3. Use 0.250 & 0.760 standard solution for calibration
    4. Follow the instructions on SKALA - verification procedure.
    5. If the verification fails, it will need a re-clean.
    6. If it fails again, please escalate to QA.
