  • Has a competent MEWP Co-ordinator been identified?

  • Have Original certification (CPCS/IPAF) for Operator(s) been seen?

  • Is the operator's manual provided with the item of plant?

  • Has the 6 monthly thorough examination certificate been provided and in date?

  • Is there a rescue plan?

  • Are there nominated Persons for Emergency Lowering?

  • Has familiarisation training been provided including emergency lowering?

  • Visual Checks

  • Does the plant clearly display all appropriate safe working load (SWL)?

  • Is the maximum windspeed for safe operation displayed?

  • Is the maximum gradient for safe operation displayed?

  • Are all controls including emergency stops, clearly identified and marked?

  • Is there any obvious visual damage or missing parts? Check boom, assemblies and platform.

  • All edge protection and handrails suitable and secure?

  • Are tyres securely in place, inflated sufficiently and not worn?

  • Are wheels free from cracks and damage?

  • Are air, hydraulics and fuel systems in good condition, free from leaks, cracks etc?

  • Are fluid levels ok: Engine Oil, Engine Coolant, Hydraulic Oil, Fuel/Battery?

  • Are hose and cables in good condition?
