Procedure

  • Is there a written and approved site procedure for blasting?

  • Has it been communicated to the employees ?

Planning

  • Are pattern designs and blasting procedures adopted to minimize fly rocks, blast vibrations, pit wall failure and safety hazards to employees and health and safety of the surrounding community?

  • Is the drill pattern area barricaded off to prevent unauthorized traffic flow in and around the area?

  • Drill hole locations clearly marked out at the face and a drilling pattern plan provided, indicating depths, diameters, angles and any other relevant information?

Charging blast holes

  • Are there written procedures for charging and firing?

  • Are vehicles in good condition and approved for the conveying of explosives

  • Are vehicles used for the transportation of explosives, blasting agents, detonators and detonating accessories incorporate special features in accordance with the appropriate regulations?
