Job Assessment

  • Before commencing of ringing or slinging task, is the Rigger do a thorough assessment?

  • Is the rigging study conducted whenever lifting above 5 tones or when it is deemed to be an awkward lifting?

Lifting

  • Is a job risk assessment conducted before every lift and does this include that the lift is not awkward in size or shape, under 5t or slewed over buildings with people or critical equipment?

  • Is a lifting study conducted before any lift of >5t or when the lift is deemed awkward in size or shape or loads slewed over critical equipment or buildings with people?

Equipment identification

  • Are all necessary inspection in place before acceptance and use of equipment?

  • Each sling is on a register showing full description of the sling and a record of repairs?

  • Each sling is color coded after each periodic inspection?

  • Is each sling shows it’s Safe Working Load Limit, SWL?

  • Are slings stored in a safe place

  • Is each sling inspected carefully to determine the lifting capacity of the sling had decreased or that the sling is damaged?

On site activities

  • Is the housekeeping of the working area satisfied?

  • Are working communication (radio, or hand signals) established?

  • Are all crane and lifting equipment identified with a unique code or number?

  • Are required permits available?

  • Is the entire lifting area barricaded?

  • Are all personnel performing slinging or lifting ensuring that the correct type and combination of slings as well as the load capacity of the slings for the type of load selected?

  • Is the rigger inspect all lifting equipment before leaving the site and all damages or losses recorded on Pre/Post use checklist and reported to Safety department and store-man?
