6.1 – Connect Current Interrupter between Transformer Rectifier Output and Anode Ground Bed

  • Has the current interrupter been connected correctly?

  • Has a temporary DC voltage source been installed if the location does not have a permanent impressed current system?

  • If applicable, were any bonds in the area disconnected for the test?

6.2 – Assemble 2 Probes and Connect Leads to Meter

  • Have the probes been assembled and connected to the meter?

6.3 – Fit Meter Support Harness and Adjust for Comfortable Walking and Viewing

  • Has meter support harness been fitted correctly?

6.4 – Switch Instrument On and Adjust Bias and Sensitivity Controls

  • Were the bias and sensitivity controls of the meter adjusted correctly?

6.5 – Traverse Centre Line of Pipeline, Probes in Contact with the Ground

  • Was the survey conducted on the centre line of the pipeline?

  • If the pipeline is located on private property, was the landowner notified prior to the survey?

6.6 – Identify Coating Holiday

  • Was the meter observed for the indication of a coating fault?

6.7 – Determine Size of Coating Holiday

  • If detected, has the size of the coating holiday then calculated correctly?

6.8 – Peg and Record Coating Holiday Location

  • Was the coating holiday location pegged and measured?

6.9 – Measure and Record Pipe to Soil Signal Swing at either side of Coating Holiday

  • Has the pipe to soil swing been measured and recorded?

6.10 – Finish

  • Have the CPU and bonds been returned to their original operating status?
