6.1 – Receive Instructions to Conduct Insulating Flange Test

  • Have instructions for the test been issued by the Supervisor?

6.2 – Are you using the Transformer Ring Method?

  • Has the transformer ring method been considered to perform the test?

6.3 – Attach Transformer Ring

  • Has the transformer been clamped on correctly?

6.4 – Connect AC Generator

  • Is there a good electrical connection between the probes and pipe?

6.5 – Test Flange Insulation

  • Has the flange insulation been tested for soundness?

6.6 – Is the flange faulty?

  • Has the secondary winding been checked for a voltage?

6.7 – Record Details

  • If detected, have the details of the faulty flange been recorded in SAP?

6.8 – Report Results

  • Have the results then been reported to the Supervisor?

6.9 – Attach Detector

  • Has the detector been attached to the pipe correctly?

6.10 – Bridge Out Insulating Joint

  • Was the insulating joint bridged out with a bonding strap?

6.11 – Connect AC Generator

  • Has the AC Generator been connected correctly?

6.12 – Measure and Record Voltage

  • Was the generator switched on, and observed for current flow?

  • Was the displayed voltage recorded on the generator?

6.13 – Disconnect Bonding Strap

  • Was the bridging bond strap disconnected?

6.14 – Measure Voltage of the Detector

  • Was the new voltage measured on the generator?

6.15 – Is there a difference in the readings?

  • Were the two readings compared for a large difference?

6.16 - Finish

  • Was the equipment packed up, and site made safe?
