Standard, Purpose and Scope

  • Standard: WAM MOE 2.4.3 and 2.6.2, MOE Appendix 16

  • Purpose: To ensure personal toolboxes are complete and well maintained, inventories are complete and checked monthly, personal tools are labeled and valid.

  • Scope: The Individual toolbox and trolley of any AME working under the WAM AMO.

Toolbox Inventory

  • Does this toolbox have an inventory?

  • Does the inventory list every tool in the toolbox?

  • Has the toolbox inventory been checked monthly by the AME's supervisor or teamleader.

Tool Mark

  • Is each tool clearly marked to identify the owner?

  • Indicate or describe the tool mark used by this engineer:

  • Does the AME have five (5) tool tags?

Company Authorization

  • Does this engineer have a company authorization?

  • Doe the AME have a copy of the company authorization?

  • Is it signed by the AME?

  • Does the company authorization list all the activities the AME may carry out and/or sign for?

Cleanliness and Organization

  • Is tools properly organized? i.e. spanner, screwdriver, pliers together.

  • Is shadow marking or foam cutouts used to easily identify missing tools?

  • Is each drawer marked with a number or letter that corresponds with inventory?

Tool trolley/Work bench

  • Is the tool trolley/work bench clean and painted?

  • Are any hazardous chemicals stored in the tool trolley/work bench?

  • Is each container clearly marked with contents, hazard label (i.e. Flammable Liquid) and the containers are NOT a recycled cool drink bottles or similar containers?

  • Are the hazardous chemicals locked away after use?

Lost tool reports

  • Has this AME ever lost a tool?

  • Was the lost tool reported using the lost tool reporting system as per the MOE 2.6.5?

  • Was the tool found?
