  • Fall Protection is required on holes, wall openings, leading edges, excavations, hoist areas, rooftops, and lifts that the fall is over 6 feet.

  • Visually inspect fall protection equipment for monthly safety color inspection.

  • Visually inspect fall protection equipment for damage. This includes webbing, stitching, hardware, snap hooks, carabiners, and anchorage. Every harness and laynyard must have a tagging system and recommended life of service attached to the harness. Remove from service if damaged or out of date.

  • Use guardrail systems with the correct measurements. The top rail must be 42” +/- 3”, the mid rail must be halfway between the top edge of the guardrail system and the working level, and the toe board must be 3.5”.

  • Inspect that the Guardrail System can withstand a 200 pound force.

  • Inspect that full body harness equipment is worn in the proper manner with all devices connected and straps tightened.

  • Personal Fall Arrest Systems consist of anchorage, connectors, and a body harness that may include a deceleration device, lifeline, or suitable combinations. Anchorage points must hold 5000 lbs.

  • Select rigging that a free fall of no more than 6 feet is possible.

  • All holes are covered to prevent stepping into the hole. Cover is labeled “Hole- Do Not Remove” and nailed down to the surface so that it cannot be removed.

  • Store Fall Protection in an organized fashion on the top of a tool/gang box or off the ground. Keep fall protection stored in a clean and dry area.
