Gin Wheel Inspection

• Is there load bearing couples fitted to either side

• Is the LOLER thorough examination available for the wheel? Check the serial number on the gin wheel with the certificate

• Is the LOLER Thorough examination available for the rope?

• SWL displayed on wheel

• Is the fixing tube fixed to the inner and outer uprights with double couplers

• The wheel is positioned no more than 750mm from outside edge

• Is the wheel and fitting free from any visual damage. Cracks, corrosion, sharpe edges

• Is the rope in good order No fraying or cuts

• Is there an exclusion zone around the lift area

• Can the person lifting stand in a safe place i.e. not directly under the load

• Can operatives maintain clear site and maintain good communications

• Can items be lifted safely Must be under 45kg

• All operatives trained on use and tying methods

• Take a photo of the Gin Wheel and rope as a minimum
